2007 'Workweek: an Experimental Holiday'

Directed by Sarah Slifer and Hannah Burr

Looking to give festival artists more time to integrate themselves into the sites and feel of Gloucester, GNAF07 became a short residency for five artists, culminating in performance and exhibition of the works made. The public was being considered in a different way. Instead of relying on selling tickets and building a public in the traditional way, we sought to romance the public by including them more directly in the works - and making all events free. Site-specificity and clear conceptual design characterized the works for this festival.

2007's projects brought us in contact with the Gloucester shellfish constable and the management team and employees of Shaw's market. Local residents were consulted on rope and knots and invited to perform in parking lots.

Slifer and Burr also contributed works for the community and the participating artists.
